The 2011 Arts in Education Spring Celebration (Brown Bag It) takes place each weekday beginning at 11 am through May 27. Performances and displays take place on three stages at the Peoria County Courthouse Plaza: the Circle, the Monument, and Main and Jefferson. Ride for the Cure will take place Saturday at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie with parade line-up from 9 - 11 am. The National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place all day on Saturday. In conjunction with the US Postal Service, letter carriers across the country will collect non-perishable food for families in need. Leave your donations at your mailbox for pickup & delivery to local food banks.
The Glen Oak Amphitheatre/Lagoon's Clyde West Fishing Derby, a free event for children, seniors, and those with disabilities, will take place from 10 am - 3 pm on Saturday. The schedule is ages 9 & under 9 - 11 am, ages 10-13 11 am - 1 pm and seniors and those with disabilities 1 - 3 pm.  Toss in a line and see if you can reel in one of our specially tagged fish to win a prize. Don't have a pole? Borrow one through the "Loan A Pole" program, sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The 14th Annual "Celebrating Generations" Expo will take place Saturday from 10 am - 1 pm at Expo Gardens in Peoria.  Cost: is $1 and includes a sack lunch. This event provides resources to all ages to help with everyday living. Health information and free to low cost screenings will be available.

Forest Park Nature Center (located at 5809 Forest Park Drive in Peoria Heights) will host a concert by Lil' Rev, an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and music historian, on Saturday beginning at 7 pm, as part of their 2011 concert series.   Reserved seating is available at the Trailhead Nature Store, and general admission seating is available at the door. The Grand Tour of West Bluff Homes will take place Sunday from Noon - 5 pm featuring homes throughout the West Bluff of Peoria. Tickets are $12 in advance available at Geier Florist, Marilyn's Bow K, Sterling Flower Shop or Floral Expressions. Tickets are $15 the day of the tour and may be purchased at any of the homes on the tour. 
The St. Jude Kids Run will take place on Sunday on the Washington Community High School Track from 12:30 - 3 pm. Children aged 2 - 15 will run in heats according to age. Parents or guardians must be present during the entire event.  Registration will be accepted through the day of the event for $20. All entry fees and money collected will go directly to the children & families of St. Jude.
Carl Anderson and His New Orleans Jazz Band, a regular favorite for the Central Illinois area, will perform at the monthly Central Illinois Jazz Society concert beginning at 6 pm Sunday at the Starting Gate Banquet Room (located in Landmark Recreation Center, 3225 N. Dries Lane in Peoria). Admission is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.
Sommer Park will host a Blacksmith Hammer-In Workshop on Saturday from 8:30 am - 5 pm at the Pioneer Blacksmith Shop, a great place to learn about this old-fashioned trade. Join members of the Illinois Valley Blacksmithing Association and watch a guest blacksmith demonstrate his skills making traditional items used in and around the house.
