The 2011 Arts in Education Spring Celebration (Brown Bag It) takes place each weekday beginning at 11 am through May 27. Performances and displays take place on three stages at the Peoria County Courthouse Plaza: the Circle, the Monument, and Main and Jefferson. A Wildlife Survival class will be held at Wildlife Prairie State Park tonight (Thursday) from 5:30 - 8:30 pm. The Southside Business Association in Pekin will host Derby Days Friday - Sunday at Koch and 11th Street in Pekin. The carnival will open at 6 pm on Thursday closing at 5 pm on Sunday. Bracelets for unlimited rides will be sold for $15 each.  On Friday from 6 - 9 pm SBA and Twisted Spike Saloon will host a Cruise-In on Derby Street between themselves and the fire department.

The Night BeFORE will be Friday from 6:30 - 10 pm at Lakeview Museum. It is an all-inclusive evening at the Museum where you can putt through their expanded specially made miniature golf course the night before their Meteor Shower Golf Ball drop. A Meteor Shower and Gold Ball Drop will take place at Lakeview on Saturday from 11:00 am - 4 pm featuring art projects, gallery walks, digital planetarium shows, inflatable games and more. The day will be highlighted with a helicopter golf ball drop, where approximately 2,000 golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter onto the front lawn giving individuals a chance to win prizes. The Kinsey Sicks will perform  Friday at the ICC Performing Arts Center as part of the ICC Guest Artists Series beginning at 7:30 pm.
